Susan's comments

It is an exciting day for both historians and nature lovers! We have arrived at the mouth of Port Stanley before being dropped at Gypsy Cove 4 Kms from this small but famous town to walk ready to walk back along the sand dunes and magellanic penguin colonies in time for a famous fish and chip lunch. (Apparently the best fish and chips in the world), before heading towards the war memorial and returning to our ship The island Sky for a 2 day crossing to South Georgia, which once again promises to be a bumpy ride! Watch this space!

I have spent the day in Port Stanley which is probably the most fascinating place I have ever visited. Surrounded by white sand, turquoise blue sea, albatross, magallenic penguins and relics of the Falkland war, the town feels very British and sells the best and freshest fish and chips I have tasted. The highlight of the day was meeting Mensun Bound and his wife. Mensun discovered the wreck of the Endurance and has written a best selling book about the historic discovery.
