nearly there

Today is my last day at sea! Luckily I survived the Drake Passage unlike many passengers who were very sea sick! I loved the days at sea watching the giant storm Petrels and swooping albatross. I'll have many photos to share next week! I think for me the highlight of the trip was South Georgia. sadly because of the incoming storm we had to set sail a day early which meant missing the rockhopper penguin colony! However I've learnt so much about whales and the importance these huge mammals have on the planet and our environment that my next mug of memories is going to be about whales! It'll be a good friend for the waddle of penguin mug! Sadly for the whale, my photography skills seem to be better when watching penguins!

I love my birds so I have spent many happy hours with my much loved camera in hand watching the albatross and the other sea birds. So today is spent sailing very quietly up the Beagle Channel watching a few birds but sadly no albatross just the odd passing petrel! Once back in Ushuaia tonight I'll have one last night here before 2 days in Montevideo before returning to Buenos Aires and home next week!

Once at home I'll be doing more research on the whale and some of the birds of the southern ocean! A busy summer ahead I think for my wacom pad and my design skills!
