Today is our last stop on the Antarctic Peninsula. An imminent storm has forced us to leave half a day early but we still had a morning on the utterly breathtaking Deception Island. This horseshoe shaped black volcanic island is still active but is also home to the delightful chinstrap penguins. I love the little chinstrap and have spent many hours photographing this cheeky little flightless bird!

I have also been lucky enough to see albatross and storm Petrels. The petrels have been following our boat for most of this trip! Deception Island was once famous for its whaling industry but now the huts Kay abandoned but the albatross have taken over parts of the ruined buildings and made cozy looking nests in all the crevices and rotten roof timbers.

Now we start our sail north to round the Cape before returning to Ushuaia and calmer waters and stepping our feet on dry land that doesn't move! Fingers crossed for a few more sightings of whales!
